Our Nature Outdoor Classroom is designed around the four basic elements: wind, water, fire and earth. When we think about childhood, and the experiences and interactions with the environment around us, the most memorable aspect is the seeming absence of structure of those experiences. However, as we learn when we get older, there is actually an underlying ecological process and organization that really organizes everything around us. Everything is connected and organized in a certain way; though it may not always be visible, it’s still there. Roll logs down a hill, put your feet in a mud pit, climb in a tree house, play musical instruments, measure growth of plants, or keep track of worms in the worm farm. Our interactive water play area is over 40 feet long. It includes gates, levers, and a water wheel that control water flow. These are just a few of the experiences that can be found in the NOC.
